Today Hyundai confirmed that it is working on electric and fuel cell vehicles that will be offered under its high-performance N sub-brand. Hyundai hasn’t provided any other details, but EV Pulse has reportedly received some juicy details about what we can expect.
According to an unnamed source, Hyundai is working on a new electric sedan, codenamed CE and CE1. When it enters production it will be called the Ioniq 6. “That individual also said that it’ll blow our heads off, which is proof that this will be the first performance-oriented Hyundai on the E-GMP platform.”
The Ioniq 6 is scheduled to debut in 2022. It will be offered in standard versions with 58 and 77.4 kWh battery options. The one we’re more interested in, is the Ioniq 6 N. We don’t know for sure yet, but there’s a good chance that it will be powered by the same dual-motor powertrain with 577 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque as the Kia EV6 GT.
With that much power on tap, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N would rival the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan.
The Ioniq 6 is expected to take styling cues from the Prophecy concept that you see here.
Stay tuned.
