Earlier this month Kia took the wraps off its first dedicated battery electric vehicle, the 2022 Kia EV6. Now Kia has released the specs and juicy details about the EV6, including the sporty EV6 GT.

The EV6 is based on Hyundai Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which is also the basis for the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The EV6 crossover will be offered in rear- or all-wheel drive with two battery options (58.0 kWh or 77.4 kWh).

The range topping EV6 GT features two electric motors and all-wheel drive with a total 576 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque. The EV6 GT is only available with the larger battery and has software that mimics the behavior of a limited-slip differential. Kia says that it can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 128 mph.

The base EV6 and stylish EV6 GT-Line models are available with a single 168-hp electric motor or two electric motors that generate a combined 232-hp with the Standard Range battery pack. The Long Range Battery pack comes with either 225-hp or 321-hp.

Kia says that the rear-wheel drive Long Range version will have a 316 -mile range on the European WLTP cycle. Here in the US we can expect the EPA numbers to be a bit lower.

The 2022 Kia EV6 will arrive in the second half of this year.
