Rolls-Royce is reportedly going to show off its new SUV this summer. But instead of having a big world debut for the new SUV, Rolls-Royce is actually going to reveal the new SUV behind closed doors at select events.

Codenamed Cullinan, the Rolls-Royce SUV will rival other high end SUVs, from brands, like Bentley and Lamborghini. According to Rolls-Royce, the SUV will “effortless to drive everywhere.” The SUV will also be the second model to be built on its new bespoke aluminum platform.

Rather than use a platform from BMW for its new SUV, Rolls-Royce feels that its buyers will demand something more unique. CEO Torsten Mueller-Oetvos said last year, “We are not using mass-manufactured body shells. That limits what you can do on the design side, and it undermines exclusivity massively.” He continued that Rolls-Royce buyers “do not want a camouflaged Audi Q7,” which is an obvious jab at the Bentley Bentayga, which shares its platform with Audi.

The Rolls-Royce SUV is also expected to get the same 563 horsepower twin-turbocharged V-12 engine as the Phantom. Sales are expected to kick off later this year, with the first deliveries arriving in 2019.
