The 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas is only a few days away. GM has unveiled the Chevy Camaro and Corvette concepts that will be shown off at the show.
“Go to any Corvette or Camaro enthusiast event and you will have a hard time finding a factory-stock vehicle,” said Chris Perry, vice president, global marketing and strategy for Chevrolet. “These are cars that owners treat as canvases to express their personalization and high-performance dreams – and have been for decades. The SEMA Show is the perfect venue to test new customization concepts and to inspire new owners to start modifying their cars.”
Corvette Carlisle Blue Grand Sport Concept: This Corvette celebrates 30 years of “Corvettes at Carlisle,” one of the largest annual Corvette events in North America. The Corvette is painted in a new Carlisle Blue exterior with Pearl White full-length racing stripes. The Carlisle Grand Sport also showcases all-out performance with a dual-mode exhaust and Magnetic Selective Ride Control.
Camaro ZL1 Carbon Concept: This concept is based on the 2012 Camaro ZL1, but gets a carbon fiber treatment, which includes a carbon fiber spoiler, exposed-weave carbon fiber “Mohawk” hood insert and carbon fiber inserts on the interior door and instrument panel. The ZL1 Carbon Concept is painted in a new Ashen Gray color that is available on 2012 Camaros.
“This concept’s dramatic appearance matches the extreme performance capabilities of the Camaro ZL1,” said Tony Roma, program engineering manager for the Camaro ZL1. “And even if its styling doesn’t intimidate you, its performance on the track will.”
Camaro 1LE Concept: This concept borrows production parts from both the Camaro SS and ZL1 models to create the ultimate competition-ready package. It’s painted in Victory Red with a flat black hood. The 1LE concept also gets a satin black splitter, rocker panels, rear spoiler and outside mirrors. A sport suspension with Magnetic Ride Control, Brembro brakes and 20-inch racing wheels make the Camaro even more fun on the track.
“The Camaro 1LE concept is all about the track,” said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer for the Camaro. “It’s an all-out race car package that pays tribute to that special option from the past.”
Camaro Red Zone Concept: The concept is based on the Camaro convertible, but is painted in a new for 2012 Crystal Claret color with a black top. It rides on 21-inch wheels and heritage-inspired stripe graphic that GM says will soon be available.
“This is a Camaro for those who want great looks and a performance personality,” said designer Adam Barry. “It’s a simple yet dramatic statement that is uniquely Camaro.”
Corvette Z06 Ron Fellows ‘Hall of Fame’ Tribute: This concept honors Ron Fellows and his long racing career, including driving on the championship Corvette Racing C5.R and C6.R teams. It’s painted in Torch Red and gets the Z06 Performance Package, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, a carbon fiber raised hood, blacked out headlights and mirrors and red brake calipers.
