Tesla is set to release its second model the Model S sedan early next year and this fall Tesla is also going to unveil its third model, the Model X crossover. So what is the future of the Tesla Roadster?
It’s being reported by Autocar that Tesla will release an all-new Roadster in 2014, which will get a new platform that doesn’t borrow Lotus parts. According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the new Roadster will be based on a third-generation platform, which will be a shortened version of the platform used for the Model S.
“This platform will spawn a range of cars in the next four to five years,” Musk stated. “It’ll be a more mass-market platform for cars like a 3-series as well as the new Roadster. These cars will supplement the Model S range.”
