The automotive world has been so focused on SUVs and EVs, with sports cars being left to the wayside. The good news is that if you’re one of the car buyers that wants a sexy, sports car, there’s still some great examples out there. One such example is the Lexus LC 500. The LC 500 has been around, since 2016 and even all these years later, the LC is one of the most stunning cars on the road.
Since the LC has been lauded as “stunning” ad nauseam, a testament to its enduring allure. Buyers get the choose between either a coupe or convertible, with each version looking like a piece of art.
The LC hasn’t really received any big styling updates since its introduction and that’s the same for 2024. On the outside, the only big update is the availability of new 21-inch forged alloy wheels with gloss black metallic coating and a machined finish. Gloss black 21-inch forged alloy wheels are standard.
Lastly two new colors are available: Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 and Copper Crest. A new Dark Rose color theme is available for the interior.
Inside the cabin four seats await, but those rear seats offer scant legroom. We found ourselves mainly using the rear seats to carry The driver and front passenger are coddled in sporty seats that hug your body perfectly.
On the tech front, the big news for 2024 is that the frustrating touchpad infotainment system is gone. The old infotainment system has been swapped out for a new 12.3-inch touchscreen. The new infotainment system runs the brand’s latest software, which is a huge improvement. It’s great to see that some automakers are finally realizing that touchpads and rotary dials for the infotainment system are frustrating and not as easy to use as a simple touchscreen. It also has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but without a wireless charger, you’ll still need to bring a wire to keep your phone charged.
Under the hood, the LC 500 is powered the brand’s familiar and much loved 5.0-liter V8 with 471 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque, that’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It only needs 4.4 seconds to reach 60 mph. If you want a more fuel efficient version, there’s the LC 500h hybrid that mates a 3.5-liter V6 to an electric motor to give it 354 hp. The hybrid is only available in the coupe.
While we’re happy that there are two powertrain options for the LC, we can’t get over the performance and sound of the naturally aspirated V8. It’s a glorious soundtrack that stands out in a world of nearly quiet EVs and hybrids. On the road the LC is the perfect cruiser.
The pricing for the 2024 Lexus LC 500 starts at $99,800, while the LC 500h starts at $103,100. The LC 500 convertible starts at $107,300.
