Ford has been taking reservations for the electric 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning pickup since May, but those reservations have yet to be able to be converted to orders. The good news is that a new report claims that Ford will start taking orders for the F-150 Lightning on October 26.

According to a post on the Lightningowners.com forum, a Ford dealer sent a note to reservation holders that orders will start later this month. “I just found out that the F-150 Lightning order bank is scheduled to open on 10/26. At that point we will be able to convert reservations to orders an actually build out your truck.”

Ford will also likely launch the online configurator for the F-150 Lightning at the same time.

As of right now there are more than 150,000 reservations for the F-150 Lightning, which if those all convert to sales, buyers will need to wait a while to get their electric truck. Ford recently announced plans to double its production target by 2024 to 80,000 units a year, but the initial production numbers will be lower. Ford only plans to build 15,000 units in 2022 and 55,000 in 2023. Production will jump up in 2025, when Ford expects to build 160,000 units a year. The next-generation F-150 Lightning is also scheduled to launch by the end of 2025.
