Vehicles in the luxury compact SUV space are vying for attention with promises of performance, technology and comfort. The 2026 Lexus NX 350h is a bit more restrained in its ambitions. It is not the sort of sporty SUV to put through every corner; it is a refined, economical daily driver. With an upscale air, a smooth hybrid powertrain and a hushed cabin, it is well suited to the commute and running errands.

Those who put a premium on refinement and keeping fuel costs down will find much to like in the NX 350h. It is easy to live with, if its compact proportions do force some trade-offs, the second row being the most obvious example.
A 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a pair of electric motors make up the NX 350h’s powertrain for a total of 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. If you opt for all-wheel drive, you get a third electric motor that powers the rear axle. In the city the hybrid is responsive. From a standstill the electric motors put out power in a smooth fashion so the SUV can get moving in traffic without any abruptness.

Out on the highway the NX 350h finds a relaxed pace. There is sufficient power for passing and such, but put your foot down and the engine will sound worked over. A sign that efficiency has been put ahead of excitement in the tuning. An F Sport trim is available for those wanting a sportier look and an adaptive suspension to manage ride firmness. It does not, however, turn the NX into a performance machine. Calm and comfort are still the order of the day.
The numbers speak for themselves when it comes to fuel economy. Front-wheel-drive variants are good for 42/38/40 mpg (city/highway/combined). All-wheel-drive models come in at 41/37/39, a small price to pay for the traction. The AWD setup relies on an electric motor for the rear axle as opposed to a driveshaft. It is a sensible way to have some assurance in bad weather while retaining the bulk of the hybrid’s advantage.

One would expect a certain quietude and quality from a Lexus and the NX delivers. The materials and layout are of a high standard, making for a pleasant environment for everyday use. The design is understated, eschewing visual flair for comfort.
There is a 14-inch touchscreen in the middle of things for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While the big screen is fine for maps and media, the digital gauges look old next to it. The interface is simple enough, but the disparity in presentation between the two is apparent.
As for room, the front is fine but the second row is tight, which will be felt by taller occupants or on a long haul. Any family with adults in the back should have a sit in there before committing. It is a practical compact, but not the roomiest around.
Pricing for the 2026 Lexus NX 350h starts at $46,570.

The Verdict
For a family or commuter after a luxury SUV with good manners and fuel economy, the 2026 Lexus NX 350h is hard to fault. The hybrid is at home in stop-and-go conditions and the cabin is relaxing.
It is not the one to have if you want to be put through the corners or have plenty of legroom behind the wheel. The F Sport does not change that equation. But where easy-to-use tech and refinement count for more than driving thrills, the NX 350h should be considered.
