J.D. Power and Associates has released the latest results of its Initial Quality Study in which General Motors managed to grab eight segment awards, which is more than any other automaker. GMC ranked second overall in initial quality, climbing 10 spots, and was the top-ranked non-premium brand. Chevrolet also jumped 10 spots and ranked fifth overall and second among non-premium brands. Together with Buick and Cadillac, all GM brands performed better than the industry average of 113 problems per 100 vehicles.

GM has released some of the specs for the 4.3L version of the all-new 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups. The all-new 4.3L EcoTec V-6 packs 285-hp and 305 lb-ft. of torque. It also gets up to 24 mpg in rear-wheel-drive models and 22 mpg for four-wheel-drive models. GM claims that the 4.3L V6 will be the most capable standard V-6 in any full-size pickup truck. The 4.3L V-6 gives the full-size pickups the highest-available payload rating of 2,108 pounds and the highest available towing rating of 7,200 pounds.

Tesla has already announced plans to increase its network of fast-charging stations across the country, but tomorrow Tesla is going to unveil a new battery swap option at an event in California. The new battery swapping capability will allow drivers to quickly swap their car's battery with a charged battery, which would be even faster than waiting to charge the car's existing battery.

Earlier this month Chrysler received a recall request from NHTSA that requested that the automaker recall 2.7 million Jeeps. Chrysler responded with an absolute no following NHTSA's investigation into fire risks on Jeep Grand Cherokee models built from 1993 to 2004 and Jeep Liberty models built from 2002 to 2007.

Aston Martin has unveiled the 2014 Vanquish Volante, which is a droptop version of the Vanquish supercar. The Vanquish Volante crucially is powered by the the same new AM11 6.0-liter V12 engine as the coupe and also reaches 0-62 mph sprint in just 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 183 mph.

GM has announced the pricing for the refreshed 2014 Buick LaCrosse will start at $34,060. The new LaCrosse gets front and rear styling updates and the interior gets updated with upgraded materials and new center console. The 2014 LaCrosse comes standard with next-generation IntelliLink connectivity, an eight-inch reconfigurable color cluster display, and an eAssist powertrain that gets up to 36 highway mpg.

Ford is going to add more traditional buttons and knobs to its MyFord Touch infotainment system since the current system has hurt Ford in several quality surveys. Customers have complained that the current system is too complicated to use and distracting, so Ford plans to revert back to a more traditional setup.

Buick's lineup has gone through a major reformation in the past few years. The transition from a stodgy brand that was geared more towards the retired generation to today's more stylish models is largely thanks to GM's European brand, Opel. The Buick Verano, Regal and Encore models are all re-badged Opel models that have brought a bit more excitement to the brand. Opel fans in the U.S. will be glad to hear that the relationship between the two brands will continue in the future.

Cadillac has released the pricing for the all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS, which starts at $46,025. The 2014 CTS sedan debuted at this year's New York Auto Show and will arrive in showrooms by this fall with an all-new design that is longer, lower and leaner. The 2014 CTS is five inches longer than the outgoing sedan, but is also 244 pounds lighter than the previous model. It is expected to be the lightest car in its segment.

If you're looking for a bit more attitude from the Dodge Dart, Chrysler has announced that the limited-edition 2013 Mopar '13 Dart will arrive this summer, starting at $25,485. The Mopar '13 Dart is painted in Pitch Black with a Mopar blue racing stripe that runs from the nose to the tail. Inside, the seats are covered in Katzkin leather. The driver's seat is Mopar blue with black accents while the rest of the seats are black with blue accents.

GM and BMW are now confident that the new DC "Combo" Fast Charge stations will allow an electric vehicle to charge up to 80 percent in about 20 minutes. Both automakers jointly tested the new fast chargers, which are set to significantly improve the charging experience.

Kia continues to move upward towards the entry-level luxury segment with models like the new Kia Cadenza. Audi has released the pricing and fuel economy stats for the 2014 A6, A7 and Q5 TDI models, which will begin arriving at U.S. dealers in late Summer 2013. All three models are powered by a six-cylinder diesel engine with 240hp and 428 lb-ft. of torque. The A6 TDI and A7 TDI are both rated at 24 city/ 38 highway, while the Q5 TDI is rated at 24 city/ 31 highway.

Jeep has announced the pricing for the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee, which starts at $22,995. The polarizing Cherokee is the replacement for the Liberty and is built on an all-new platform that is also shared with the Dodge Dart. Although it is now based on a new car platform, Jeep claims that it will still offer the off-road capability that we expect from the brand, while also more fuel economy, more advanced safety and technology features.

VW has announced that it will try to beat an existing Guinness World Record for the lowest fuel consumption around the lower 48 US states for a non-hybrid car. Two drivers will drive a 2013 Passat TDI diesel 8,000 miles, which will take them through 48 states and take up to two weeks.

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive has circled the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a record time of 7:56.234 minutes making it the first production electric vehicle to lap the track in under eight minutes. "Mercedes-AMG impressively shows the potential of the SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive with the new record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Mercedes-AMG is the first vehicle manufacturer which makes it possible to circle the Nordschleife in under eight minutes with an electrically-powered series production vehicle. This record run is another proof for our constant innovative vigour," according to Ola Källenius, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
