Volkswagen has announced that the 500,000th Passat has rolled off the line at its plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The special Passat was a Candy White Limited Edition, with black interior, keyless access with pushbutton start, a rearview camera, heated seats, a 1.8 liter turbo engine, premium radio and 17 inch alloy ‘Sonoma’ wheels.
The Chattanooga plant is the world’s first and only LEED Platinum certified factory, which is now going through a $900 million expansion to build a second model – a seven-passenger midsize SUV.
