It’s been rumored that Toyota is planning to bring back the Land Cruiser to the United States and now Toyota has confirmed it.

Toyota has released a teaser on social media that shows vintage Land Cruiser badges, with the statement “Did you think we’d be gone for long? The legend returns.” The last-generation Land Cruiser left the U.S. after 2021, when the rest of the world received the redesigned 300-series version.

We don’t have any other details about the new Land Cruiser that’s headed to the our shores, but there have been reports that it won’t be the LC300 that was recently introduced in other markets. For buyers that want that SUV, they will have to opt for the Lexus LX. Instead a new report, from Automotive News claims that the Land Cruiser will be a version of the next-generation Land Cruiser Prado, that’s sold outside North America. It will drop the “Prado” part of its name and basically be a Toyota badged version of the 2024 Lexus GX that debuted last week.

The new GX and the Land Cruiser Prado will be based on Toyota’s TNGA-F body-on-frame platform, which is also used by the 300-series Land Cruiser, Lexus LX and the Toyota Tundra, Sequoia, and 2024 Tacoma.
