Rolls-Royce buyers haven’t really asked for an electrified Rolls-Royce, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t going to happen soon. Due to increasing emissions regulations, Rolls-Royce will likely release a plug-in hybrid within in the next two to three years.

Rolls-Royce buyers haven’t really asked for an electrified Rolls-Royce, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t going to happen soon. Due to increasing emissions regulations, Rolls-Royce will likely release a plug-in hybrid within in the next two to three years.
With a twelve cylinder engine under the hood, Rolls-Royce’s models are anything but fuel efficient, so Rolls-Royce needs to find a way to increase its fleet fuel economy figure. Rolls-Royce will not offer a fully electric model, like the 102EX Phantom concept because it has too many compromises (short driving range and long charging times) for Rolls-Royce buyers.

It’s expected that Rolls-Royce will tap its owner BMW for the hybrid technology.
