Nissan Motor Company digitally revealed its new battery-electric Nissan Hyper Urban concept SUV, the first of four announcements planned by the automaker, with others coming later this month.

The automaker says that the Nissan Hyper Urban is aimed at the “urban- and suburban-based professionals who prioritize environmental sustainability,” while not “compromising on style or fun.” In other words, it’s mean to be a city-based battery-electric foul-weather friend.

The lime yellow concept features front and rear scissor doors ala Lamborghini or McLaren, as well as angular sheetmetal and wide tires in effort to endow the Nissan Hyper Urban with a tough, rugged urban SUV aesthetic. 

Revealing little about the SUV’s capabilities, Nissan said it has V2H functionality, so it can provide providing power to the home, as well as V2G functionality, so it can even contribute surplus power to the grid. 

The vehicle’s ability to accept regular software updates includes the ability to receive a refreshed instrument panel design in effort to promote environmental sustainability by helping extend the vehicle’s lifespan.

Nissan plans to launch 19 electric vehicles by 2030. The battery-electric concept SUV ahead of its debut at the at the Japan Mobility Show, the new moniker for what was once known as the Tokyo Motor Show. It opens Oct. 25th to the media and Oct. 28th to the public, and runs through Nov. 5th.
