Nissan has given us a first look at the next version of one of their most important vehicles. At a recent ‘Vision’ event, the company showed off the completely redesigned 2027 Rogue Hybrid with its e-POWER system and, at the same time, officially said the strong, long-liked Nissan Xterra is being brought back.

The next Rogue is a big step forward for Nissan’s best-selling compact SUV, particularly in North America. We don’t have all the details yet, but the main news is the introduction of e-Power. This is a hybrid system that should feel like driving an electric vehicle without the need for plugging it in.
This e-Power system from Nissan is different from regular hybrids. It uses the gasoline engine only to create electricity. The engine makes power, which then goes to the electric motors and they turn the wheels. This means smooth, immediate power and a more naturally electric feel to the driving experience, a contrast to how typical hybrids operate.
Nissan states this system mixes good gas mileage with quick responsiveness, aiming to provide an electric-vehicle type of drive but without the worry of how far you can go on a charge. The technology isn’t new in the world as a whole, with almost 2 million vehicles with e-Power already sold since it was first introduced.
For the Rogue, a vehicle that’s reached nearly 10 million sales worldwide, this change shows just how committed Nissan is to electric power in their main car range.
The 2027 Rogue Hybrid is scheduled to be in the US and Canada by late 2026. We’ll get more specifics about the look, the technology inside, and how powerful it is nearer the time it goes on sale.

Along with the Rogue, Nissan also teased something that fans have been hoping for for a long time: the Xterra is coming back!
The new Xterra will be a tough, body-on-frame SUV made in the USA, and is expected to arrive in late and 2028. It will be part of a larger group of vehicles designed for going off road, and could include pick-up trucks and SUVs with more than two rows of seats, for both Nissan and Infiniti.
Nissan also suggested that this new group of vehicles might have traditional V6 engines as well as hybrid options, allowing customers a wider range of choices.
