With the new Sport Edition package, Nissan is putting a tougher face on its 2027 Frontier. The offering is set to join the lineup later this year for those in the market for a more aggressive style and some extra off-road mettle without having to make the full commitment to a Pro-4X.

You will find the Sport Edition on both 4×4 and 4×2 versions of the Frontier SV. It takes its styling inspiration from the Pro-X and Pro-4X but has a few things all its own.
What you see is what you get with the Sport Edition. The truck is shod in 265/70R17 Hankook Dynapro all-terrain tires on black 17-inch wheels that have an off-road appearance. There is also a black lower front fascia and grille to go with the black mirrors and special Sport badging on the tailgate and bedside.

Nissan has put yellow accents in places around the truck, even in the contrast stitching in the cabin. An aluminum skid plate, LED fog lights and some front accent lighting complete the look.
Think of the Sport Edition as a more wallet-friendly way to get a truck with genuine all-terrain ability; it is not meant to be a stand-in for the Pro-4X. According to Nissan, it is for the kind of customer who puts his truck through its paces at job sites or trailheads. Having the all-terrain tires come straight from the factory is something that was previously the domain of the Pro grades.

The Frontier is getting a few other changes for 2027. In addition to the Sport Edition, the Dark Armor and PRO-4X R packages are still available. You can now spec an Alpine Metallic exterior and take advantage of updated wireless charging hardware for better, faster charging.
As for performance, there are no surprises under the hood. The 3.8-liter V6 is still the standard, making 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque with a max towing figure of 7,150 pounds. Pricing will be announced later this summer when the 2027 Nissan Frontier goes on sale.
