The next-generation X1 will be based on the UKL platform, which means that the next X1 will switch to front-wheel-drive, with all-wheel-drive being optional. The engine lineup will also likely mirror the 2-Series Active Tourer with a range of three-cylinder and four-cylinder diesel and gasoline engines.
From a styling standpoint the next X1 will borrow many styling cues from the larger X5 and the 1 Series. The new X1 should debut sometime later this year.
