Mercedes-Benz is currently mulling the idea of introducing a new roadster that would be smaller than the current SLK, dubbed the SLA. The SLA subcompact roadster would be based on the same platform as the GLA and A-Class models.
Back in 2000 Mercedes-Benz looked at the idea of a small roadster with the Vision SLA concept, but it never entered production. Based on the success of the new MFA platform that is the basis for the A-Class, CLA and GLA models, Mercedes could expand it even more with a new roadster.

If it does happen the SLA roadster will use the same engines as the other MPF models and will come with front-wheel-drive, although all-wheel-drive could be an option.
