BMW and Mercedes-Benz continue to expand the scope of the crossover segment with the introduction of coupe-like crossovers, like the BMW X4/ X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLC/ GLE models. It’s only a matter of time until non-luxury brands jump on the bandwagon and now Mazda may be preparing a rival. Mazda has released a preview of the new Koeru concept, which may preview a sportier alternative to the CX-5.
According to Mazda, Koeru, Japanese for “exceed” or “go beyond,” is a fitting name for Mazda’s latest venture into the growing crossover SUV market. Mazda hasn’t released many other details, but it’s being reported that the Koeru shares its platform with the Mazda3 and CX-5 models.

Given the fact that most of Mazda’s concept vehicles end up being a preview of production models, we shouldn’t be too surprised if Mazda announces that the Koeru will enter production. The Koeru concept is going to debut next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
