While several automakers are currently testing inductive chargers that will do away with the annoying charging cables, Tesla’s new prototype represents an alternative. With Tesla’s charger prototype you would park the Model S and open the port. From there the prototype does the rest by automatically finding the port and plugging itself in.

Tesla hasn’t released any details about the prototype, but it could be a better solution to less efficient inductive charging.
