While we originally thought that Lexus might be unveiling a new flagship crossover today, instead Lexus has gone in a completely different direction by introducing a new yacht. The Lexus LY 650 is a 65-foot yacht, which is part of the brand’s ambitions to move beyond just creating cars and SUVs.
The idea for the Lexus LY 650 came after Lexus received positive feedback from the Sport Yacht Concept. Shigeki Tomoyama, Executive Vice President wanted to “present a dream-like vision of the luxury lifestyle; one where the Lexus Yacht expands the potential of Lexus mobility to the ocean.”
To help bring the LY 650 to life, Lexus partnered with Marquis-Larson Boat Group who will build, sell and service the yacht.
The first completed Lexus LY 650 is expected to be done in the second half of 2019.
