Lamborghini is going to unveil the new Aventador SVJ next month during the Monterey Car Week, but it recently took a camouflaged prototype to the Nürburgring Nordschleife where it set a new record. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ lapped the ring in 6:44.97 minutes – faster than any other production car yet.
The camouflaged Aventador SVJ was piloted by Lamborghini driver Marco Mapelli.
“The Aventador SVJ takes the Jota suffix, following the Lamborghini tradition for denoting a car’s track-focused talent. This new car is the convergence of Lamborghini technologies to produce a super sports car that transcends current performance benchmarks,” says Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Stefano Domenicali.
Lamborghini hasn’t revealed the Aventador SVJ’s specs, but it will have more power and new lightweight materials will give it a weight-to-power ratio of only 1,98 kg/hp. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ also gets the ALA 2.0 active aerodynamics system with aero vectoring to improve its handling and downforce. The steering has also been retuned to and the Aventador SVJ rides on new specifically-developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.
