Hyundai has unveiled the Hyundai Lafesta, a new sedan designed for the Chinese market. While Hyundai makes no mention about selling the Lafesta in any other markets, the big news here is that the sedan debuts Hyundai’s new “Sensuous Sportiness” design language.
The Hyundai Lafesta has debuted at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show as Hyundai’s attempt to reach a younger buyer in China that also wants a sporty sedan. Hyundai describes the Lafesta as “a high-performance sporty sedan designed to meet the dynamic and passionate demands of a new mainstream generation from the 80s and 90s.”
The goal of Hyundai’s new “Sensuous Sportiness” design language is to create vehicles that have more emotional value, which Hyundai’s new design boss Luc Donckerwolke also recently discussed. Donckerwolke recently stated that the current “Russian Doll” styling that several automakers use will not be in Hyundai’s future and instead each model will be more differentiated with more personality.
The Hyundai Lafesta will arrive in China in the fourth quarter of this year. It will be powered by a 1.6 turbo GDi engine with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
