Honda's CEO has no car, says he's holding out for the Civic Type R

It may seem a bit odd that the CEO of a major automaker doesn’t even own a car, but that’s the case for Honda’s new CEO, Takahiro Hachigo. Hachigo says that he is holding out for a specific car until he finally owns a car again. Which model is he waiting for? The 306-hp Civic Type R, which is going to arrive this fall.

It may seem a bit odd that the CEO of a major automaker doesn’t even own a car, but that’s the case for Honda’s new CEO, Takahiro Hachigo. Hachigo says that he is holding out for a specific car until he finally owns a car again. Which model is he waiting for? The 306-hp Civic Type R, which is going to arrive this fall.
“Unfortunately, I don’t have a car now,” Hachigo recently stated during a media roundtable. “But I want to buy the Civic Type R.”

The new Civic Type R is powered by a 306-hp 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that can accelerate the hatchback from 0-62 mph in 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 167 mph. It will be built at Honda’s England plant, where it will then be exported to several markets around the world, including Japan and the U.S.
