2016 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 and GLA 45 now pack 375 horsepower

Mercedes-Benz has given the 2016 CLA 45 and GLA 45 models a nice performance boost, with both models now being powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 375 horsepower, 20 more than the current models.

Mercedes-Benz has given the 2016 CLA 45 and GLA 45 models a nice performance boost, with both models now being powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 375 horsepower, 20 more than the current models.
The maximum torque has also been increased to 350 lb-ft. and the engine is mated to a revised seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with new Dynamic Select modes. The Dynamic Select system consists of four modes: Comfort, Sport, Sort+ and Individual or Race. In total the upgrades give the CLA 45 a 0-62 mph time of 4.2 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than the current model. The GLA 45 is barely slower at 4.4 seconds.

The updated CLA 45 and GLA 45 models will debut in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will go on sale after that in Europe. The models are expected to arrive in the U.S. sometime after that.
