Ford has some big changes in store for the 2018 Ford F-150 and Expedition models. We already saw the refreshed 2018 F-150 earlier this year, which was followed by the debut of all-new Expedition, but now we know more about what will power both models.

The 2018 F-150 is getting a new 3.3-liter V-6 that replaces the 3.5-liter V-6. Even though the new V6 is a tad smaller, direct and port injection helps it generate more power than the old V6, at 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft. of torque. The 2.7L turbocharged EcoBoost V6 now has port injection, which increases its max torque 25 lb-ft. to 400 lb-ft of torque, although its 325 horsepower spec hasn’t changed. The 2.7L V6 will also be mated to a new 10-speed automatic transmission.

The 5.0L V8 in the F-150 now has both direct and port injection to give it 395 horsepower and 400 lb-ft. of torque. The V8 can also be equipped with the new 10-speed transmission. Lastly a new 3.0L turbodiesel V-6 will be available next spring.

Now for the 2018 Expedition, which will be powered by the standard 3.5L turbocharged EcoBoost V6 that generates 375 hp and 470 lb-ft. of torque. If you want more power, the Expedition Platinum is powered by the same engine, but it gets a bump up to 400 hp and 480 lb-ft. The V6 is mated to the new 10-speed automatic.

Both the 2018 Ford F-150 and Expedition will be available this fall.
