The Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup has just started arriving, but it looks like Ford is already thinking ahead about its EV lineup, which will likely include additional electric pickup trucks. Ford recently filed two new trademarks with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

2022 Ford Maverick

CarBuzz discovered that Ford registered the Ranger Lightning and Maverick Lightning names, which hints at electric versions of both trucks. Of course Ford could simply have trademarked the names to keep them under the Ford name, but it’s probably more probable that they will actually be used in the future.

In April, Ford CEO Jim Farley announced that Ford is already developing its second all-electric pickup in addition to the second-generation F-150 Lightning, but it didn’t provide any other details. For now, Ford has not made any announcements about an electric Ranger or Maverick, so we may not see them until later this decade.
