A few days ago Acura unveiled the 2022 NSX Type S during Monterey Car Week and now Acura has announced that the first serial production NSX Type S, available outside of Japan, was auctioned for $1.1 million.

The winning bidder was Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and chairman & CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group. Acura will give all proceeds to charitable organizations, including an innovative STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) education program for underserved youth nationwide in partnership with the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), in Columbus, Ohio.

Now that the first one is gone, that means there are only 299 NSX Type S models left, since Acura only plans to build 350 units, with 300 of those for the US.

The 2022 NSX Type S not only got a facelift, but Acura was able to squeeze out more power from the hybrid powertrain. It’s powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with three electric motors, that generate a combined 600 horsepower and 492 pound-feet of torque.
