Cadillac CEO Envisions a $250,000 Cadillac by 2029

While today’s top Cadillac sedan, the XTS can command a price around $70,000 could Cadillac one day sell a car with a $250,000 price tag?

Cadillac is on the cusp of a major reinvention with new models like the 2016 ATS-V and upcoming CT-6 sedan. While today’s top Cadillac sedan, the XTS can command a price around $70,000 could Cadillac one day sell a car with a $250,000 price tag?
Cadillac’s boss Johann de Nysschen has high hopes for the brand and believes that by 2029 Cadillac will be able to sell a car that costs around $250,000.

“It is too early today for a $250,000 Cadillac,” Johann de Nysschen said this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show. “Fifteen years from now, it won’t be.”

Over the next six years GM is going to invest an estimated $2.5 billion in Cadillac for a range of new models. Next year Cadillac will introduce the flagship CT-6 sedan, which will be followed by an even more expensive model by 2020. The CT-6 will be priced above the XTS when it arrives, so you can expect a price tag in the $70k range.

Although Cadillac has its eyes set on a $250k model, Cadillac is also looking at the other end of its lineup with a new entry model that would compete with the Mercedes-Benz CLA.

“We quite clearly have in the passenger car line an opportunity below where ATS is positioned today,” de Nysschen stated. “There is a whole new category for compact premium sedans.”
