Audi is reportedly working on an electric sedan that will rival the Tesla Model S. Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi’s head of R&D recently confirmed the new electric model in an interview with Auto Express.
“[Such a car] is under development and it will be on the market in about 2017, but it will not be a sports car,” Hackenberg stated.

The new electric sedan will borrow its electric powertrain from the upcoming R8 e-tron, which should give it a driving range around 280 miles between charges. According to Auto Express the electric sedan will be a large sedan so that it has enough room to carry the large battery pack, but at the same time still have a sizable interior and trunk.
There’s also a possibility that an electric crossover could also be added.
