BMW is reportedly going to expand the 2 Series lineup with the addition of the new 2 Series Gran Coupe, which will be released at some point in 2019 if the reports are accurate. The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will give BMW a rival to Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan.
According to BMW Blog, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will not be based on the same rear-wheel drive platform as the 2 Series coupe and instead will be based on BMW’s front-wheel drive UKL platform. The 2 Series Gran Coupe will be about the same size as the current 3 Series and it will be offered with a range of 3- and 4-cylinder engines.
The same report also claims that BMW is working on an M version of the 2 Series Gran Coupe, which will have around 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft. of torque. We’ll have to wait and see if the reports is true, but if you’re a fan of the 2 Series convertible, you better act fast, since it is reportedly being axed.
