Audi TT Offroad Concept Unveiled in Beijing, Is a TT Crossover On the Way?

Audi has unveiled a possible future version of the new TT, the TT Offroad concept.

Audi has unveiled a possible future version of the new TT, the TT Offroad concept. Debuting at the Beijing Motor Show, the TT Offroad concept adopts the styling of the new TT, but has two extra doors and a more off-road friendly exterior.

There have been several hints this year that Audi may expand the TT lineup beyond the current coupe and roadster versions. There have been hints that a TT four-door coupe and even a shooting brake version could be in works and now a crossover may also be a possiblity.

Audi TT Offroad Concept

The TT Offroad concept is based on the new TT and is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that generates a total 408 horsepower and averages 123.8 mpg on the European cycle. Audi also says that the concept is capable of reaching up to 31 miles on electric power alone.

“The Audi TT offroad concept provides a glimpse of how we might imagine a new model in the future TT family,” says Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development. “It combines the sporty genes of the TT with the strengths of a compact Audi SUV. Its plug‑in hybrid drive with the option of inductive charging is a major step toward the mobility of the future. We chose to present the Audi TT offroad concept in China, our second domestic market, because it represents the urban mobility of tomorrow: It is sustainable, dynamic, intelligent and connected.”

There have been rumors about a new Q4 coupe-like crossover, so the TT Offroad concept could enter production as the Q4 if it doesn’t get the TT badge.
