Hyundai has confirmed that a new midsize pickup truck is coming to the U.S. market before the end of the decade. The news was shared by Hyundai CEO Jose Munoz during the brand’s recent CEO Investor Day event.
Unlike the smaller Hyundai Santa Cruz, which rides on a unibody platform shared with the Tucson, this new pickup will be a true body-on-frame truck. That means it will go head-to-head with established midsize players like the Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger, and Chevrolet Colorado. Munoz also revealed that Hyundai is considering an SUV variant based on the same platform, which would further expand the brand’s truck and off-road lineup.
Powertrain options are still under wraps, but Munoz hinted that the upcoming pickup could feature the 329-horsepower hybrid setup that powers the 2026 Hyundai Palisade. If that happens, Hyundai’s midsize truck could stand out as one of the few hybrid offerings in its segment.
While Hyundai has not released additional specs, there’s a chance the new truck could share its underpinnings with the Kia Tasman, a body-on-frame pickup that’s already planned for markets outside the U.S. If so, expect strong towing capability and serious off-road potential.
Hyundai hasn’t confirmed exactly when the new midsize pickup will debut, but with a target arrival by 2030, it’s clear the brand is serious about expanding into the growing U.S. truck market.
