The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) has announced that the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross has earned its highest safety rating – Top Safety Pick+.

To qualify for the award a vehicle must earn good ratings in six IIHS crashworthiness tests, including the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, original side, roof strength and head restraint tests. It must also be available with a front crash prevention system that earns advanced or superior ratings.

For the lower tier Top Safety Pick award, at least one good or acceptable headlight system must be available. To qualify for the “plus,” good or acceptable headlights must be standard across all trims.

The Corolla Cross comes with a standard front crash prevention system that earns superior ratings and its standard LED projector headlights earned an acceptable rating, while the available curve-adaptive headlights are rated good.
