2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz

The Santa Cruz is based on the same unibody platform as the Tucson. Buyers will be able to choose from either a naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder with over 190 horsepower or a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with around 275 hp. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The standard 2.5-liter engine can be selected in either front- or all-wheel drive, while the turbo is only available with all-wheel drive.

The Santa Cruz is available in several trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Activity, SEL Premium and Limited. The turbocharged Santa Cruz is only available in SEL Premium and Limited trim levels. It starts at $36,865. The most expensive Santa Cruz, the Limited with the turbocharged engine, starts at $40,905.

To compare, the Hyundai Santa Cruz’s closest rival is the new Ford Maverick, which starts at $21,490 and tops out at $30,935.
