Acura has given the 2022 RDX a facelift for the new model year. The RDX is one of Acura’s best sellers, so for 2022, Acura has tweaked the RDX a bit to make it even more appealing.

On the outside you’ll notice that the RDX’s face has been restyled a bit with details borrowed from the larger MDX, especially the side air intakes. The grille also gets a thinner chrome surround. At the rear the only big change is the addition of new rectangular dual exhaust finishers, although the RDX A-Spec keeps the current round units.

The RDX is available with either 19- or 20-inch wheels. There’s a new 5-spoke 19-inch wheel for the Advance Package model, while the RDX A-Spec with Advance Package features a new 15-spoke wheel design.

Inside, it looks like buyers have complained about too much interior noise, since Acura says that it gave the interior several updates to reduce road noise in the cabin. This includes the addition of a new front fender liner and an updated Active Sound Control system. The engine’s cold idle speed also has been reduced from 1,100 rpm to 950 rpm, and two-wheel drive models get a new lower torque rod to prevent engine vibrations. If you opt for the Technology Package, the RDX gets thicker carpet padding, a sound insulator in the front doors, acoustic glass, a noise insulation pad in the dashboard and an insulator in the D pillar, all of which are designed to help reduce road noise.

The Advance Package gets an additional sound insulator in the ceiling, and more sound insulation added to the dash, under the hood and over the drivetrain tunnel. The rear doors also receive an insulator and acoustic glass. In the cargo area, the cargo bins now feature sound insulation, and the rear hatch inner covering has additional sound deadening materials.

On the tech front, the 2022 RDX gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a USB-C charging port, and Amazon Alexa Built-In. Wireless charging and LED ambient lighting as been added to the Technology Package. The Advance Package also gets power-folding side mirrors and a remote engine start system.

We’ve been wishing that Acura would combine the features of the sporty A-Spec model with the more luxurious features of the Advance or Technology Package and now it’s answered our prayers. The A-Spec trim level is now available with either the Technology or Advance Package.

On the safety front, the RDX now comes standard with a blind spot monitor, traffic sign recognition that uses a camera to get the speed limit info. It also gets a new rear seatbelt reminder and new outboard seatbelts for the rear passengers that are designed to better protect you in the moderate overlap test.

The RDX is powered by a 272 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Although there aren’t any big changes under the hood, the drive modes (Normal, Comfort, Sport and Snow) have been updated, which Acura says are more distinct.

The RDX PMC Edition returns for the 2022 model year and this time it comes exclusively in the same Long Beach Blue Pearl paint as the NSX. The exterior also gets gloss black trim and Berlina Black 20-inch wheels. Inside the 2022 RDX PMC Edition gets the new Orchid interior color with blue contrast stitching. Acura only plans to build 200 RDX PMC Editions, which are build by hand.
