The Lexus NX 200t was the first Lexus to introduce a turbocharged engine and now Lexus has confirmed that the 2.0L from the NX will start infiltrating the rest of the Lexus lineup later this year. Compared to its competitors, Lexus is a little late to the turbocharged game, but Lexus is now finally ready to replace the slow 2.5L V6 with the more efficient and powerful 2.0L turbocharged engine.
Lexus hasn’t officially confirmed which model will be the next Lexus to get the new engine, but it’s been rumored that the 2016 IS is next in line. Currently the base IS 250 is powered by a 204-hp 2.5L V6, but the more powerful 2.0L that generates 235-hp in the NX 200t would be a nice update.

The new 2.0L turbo could be offered in the ES and GS, but hopefully Lexus can squeeze a bit more power out of it if it makes its way under the GS.
