Honda will introduce VTEC Turbocharged engines in the U.S. this year

Before the end of the year Honda will begin introducing four-cylinder turbocharged VTEC engines in the U.S.

It was rumored and now Honda has officially confirmed it. Before the end of the year Honda will begin introducing four-cylinder turbocharged VTEC engines in the U.S. The new turbocharged engines are an extension of Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology powertrain lineup.
Honda didn’t announce any other details, but the VTEC Turbo is rumored to show up under the hood of the rumored Civic Type-R. In previous reports, the turbocharged Civic Type R will pack as much as 280 horsepower.

Just like other automakers, like Ford that are now offering turbocharged engines across its lineup, the new VTEC Turbo engine family is likely to be offered in other Honda models like the next Accord. Hopefully the new engines will also find their way under the hood of future Acura models as well.
