Honda has unveiled what it calls the most ambitious remake yet of the Civic. The all-new 2016 Civic is completely new from the ground up with a new platform, new engines, more features and a striking new exterior.
The 2016 Civic marks the introduction of the 10th-generation Civic, which will now be offered in more versions than ever before in the U.S. The 10th-generation Civic will be offered in sedan, coupe and five-door body styles. The popular Si models will return and for the first time ever the high-performance Civic Type-R will be offered in the U.S.

“We are bringing more new technology and innovative thinking to Civic than ever before to establish a new benchmark for fun-to-drive performance, fuel efficiency, safety performance and refinement in the compact class,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co, Inc.
The 2016 Civic sedan grows in almost nearly every direction, since it is now almost 2 inches wider with a 1.2 inch longer wheelbase. At the same time it’s also 1 inch lower. Honda’s goal was to give the new Civic low and wide proportions – giving it a sportier stance. The new proportions translate into more interior space, which now offers an additional 3.7 cubic feet. The rear seat alone gets an extra 2 inches of legroom.
The 2016 Civic sedan will be offered with two new engines. The Civic LX and EX models will be offered with a new 2.0L engine that will generate 158 horsepower, 15 more than the outgoing 1.8L engine. A new turbocharged 1.5L 174-hp four-cylinder engine will power the EX-T, EX-L and Touring trim levels. The 2.0L can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT, while the 1.5L gets a unique CVT. Both engines are expected to get over 40 mpg on the highway.
The 2016 Civic will go on sale this fall.
