It seems that some Volkswagen fans are eager to get their hands on the 292-hp 2015 VW Golf R, since the pre-order allotment sold out in less than 11 hours. VW opened the order books on 12:01am EST on January 8 and by 10:30am the first 500 units were already claimed.
VW’s pre-order page shows that the Golf R is no longer available, but there’s a chance that one of the 500 orders could fall through – leaving a small hope that you could still get your hands on one.

The first 500 units are all identical in Lapiz Blue Metallic and feature a navigation system, dual-clutch automatic transmission and an adaptive damper system. They also come with an exclusive Volkswagen Driver Gear R accessory kit that includes: a serialized Volkswagen R watch, carbon fiber and stainless steel keychain and a serialized and VIN-specific certificate.
All 2015 Golf R’s will have the DSG dual-clutch transmission, but if you want the six-speed manual, it will be added for the 2016 model year. There’s also a rumor that a two-door Golf R will also be added.
