Honda didn’t bring its new small crossover to the New York Auto Show, but it did confirm the HR-V name and released a few pictures of it. The 2015 Honda HR-V is based on the new Fit and will battle the new Jeep Renegade and Chevy Trax when it arrives this winter.

Both Fit and HR-V demonstrate how great things can come in small packages, and no one does this better than Honda,” said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda automobile division for American Honda. “Together these models also represent Honda’s step-by-step expansion of our production in the region, which has been key to our success in America for more than 30 years.”

The Honda HR-V was originally previewed last year with the Urban SUV Concept and luckily the design remains mostly the same, like it hidden rear door handles and the swooshing character line. Inside the HR-V will have a spacious interior like the Fit and will also get the same Magic Seat. Honda hasn’t revealed what will power the 2015 HR-V, but the Fit’s 1.5L four-cylinder and CVT will most likely be on the list. A turbocharged four-cylinder has been rumored.

The 2015 Honda HR-V will likely debut later this year at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
