VW has released sketches of its new Golf R 400 concept car, which is going to debut in just a few days at the Beijing Motor Show. The Golf R 400 concept is an even more powerful version of the Golf R with 400 horsepower on tap.
The Golf R 400 Concept is powered by the same 2.0L turbocharged engine as the 2015 Golf R, but thanks to a bunch of modifications its able to turn out an extra 100 horsepower. The Golf R Concept can reach 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds, which is a second faster than the production Golf R and it has a top speed of 174 mph.

Compared to the Golf R, the Golf R 400 Concept features body and bumper modifications, flared wheelarches, uprated wheels and a reworked interior that includes motorsport shell seats with integral head restraints and belt openings. VW says that the flared wheel arches are deliberately reminiscent of those on the 1988 Rallye Golf G60, and most of the concept is painted in ‘Silver Flake’ metallic, in contrast to the gloss black roof and carbon door mirror caps.
Sadly VW says that there are no production plans for the Golf R 400 Concept.
