As expected, VW has unveiled the hybrid version of the Jetta sedan. The 2013 Jetta Hybrid is the second hybrid to carry a VW badge and will be the most fuel-efficient Jetta available.

The Jetta Hybrid is powered by a 1.4L turbocharged gasoline engine that develops 150 horsepower and 184 lb-ft. of torque. The 1.4L engine is mated to a 27 horsepower electric motor that gets its energy from a 1.1 kWh lithium-ion battery that sits behind the rear seat. The entire system sends its power to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

According to VW the Jetta Hybrid can reach 0-60 mph in less than nine seconds and will deliver a combined fuel economy rating of 45 mpg. The Jetta Hybrid can also be driven in pure electric mode at speeds of up to 44 mph and for up to 1.2 miles.

The Jetta Hybrid will be offered in three trims, but Bluetooth, LED taillights and 15-inch aluminum-alloy wheels are standard. Bi-xenon headlights and LED Daytime Running Lights, the RNS 315 navigation system, a rear-view camera and the Fender Premium Audio System are optional.
