Last week Mazda announced that it will celebrate the MX-5 Miata’s 25th anniversary at the New York Auto Show with 15 past MX-5 Miatas taking the stage. There was a report that we could also see the chassis of the next-generation MX-5 Miata, but now it’s being reported that we may see the all-new Miata at the show.
It was originally planned that the next Mazda MX-5 Miata would debut next year at the Chicago Auto Show to celebrate the roadster’s 26th birthday, but now sources claim that it will actually debut next month. Even though the new MX-5 Miata may debut next month, it will not arrive in showrooms until sometime next year.

There have been countless rumors about the next MX-5 Miata, but we do know that it will share about 40 percent of its parts with the Alfa Romeo/ Fiat version. It’s expected that the MX-5 Miata will be powered by a 1.5L SkyActiv engine, while the Alfa Romeo/ Fiat version will get the same 1.4L turbocharged engine that powers the Fiat 500 Abarth.

Stay tuned…
