It’s been reported that the Jaguar XK coupe and convertible models are expected to end their long run this summer, but what does Jaguar have planned as a successor to the XK? The latest rumor suggests that Jaguar is working on a coupe version of the next XJ that will act as the replacement for the XK.
According to Auto Express, the XJ Coupe will be based on the same platform as the F-Type, but it will be much larger. The XJ Coupe will effectively be a large luxurious grand touring coupe that will compete with models like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. The move is an effort to further differentiate the F-Type from the new coupe, since the F-Type killed the XK’s sales.

If the rumors are true, don’t expect to see an XJ Coupe before 2017, since Jaguar is currently working on its new XE compact sedan and a production version of the C-X17 crossover concept.
