Although the Volkswagen Phaeton left the United States market about a decade ago, the full-size luxury sedan has continued to be sold in other markets. One of the big reasons that buyers stayed away from the Phaeton was because of its crazy starting price. In Germany, the Phaeton starts at a lofty 89,650 euros ($97,253). Well its finally done, since VW has confirmed that the Phaeton will end production next March.
VW does have a successor planned, but it’s not expected to arrive until sometime around 2020. VW has also confirmed that it will only be offered exclusively with an electric powertrain.
