Volkswagen is finally ready to start delivering the updated 2017 VW e-Golf, which will start at $31,315 with the destination fees. The updated 2017 e-Golf has a longer driving range, more power and some styling updates.

The 2017 VW e-Golf is powered by a new 38.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, up from the previous 24.2 kWh battery. The new battery increases the e-Golf’s driving range from 83 miles to 125 miles on a single charge. It takes less than six hours to recharge using a 240 volt outlet, but the DC Fast Charging option charges it up to 80 percent in an hour.

The improved battery also helps improve the 2017 e-Golf’s fuel economy, which is rated at 126 MPGe in the city and 111 MPGe on the highway.

VW didn’t just stop with the larger battery, the 2017 e-Golf has a new 100 kW electric motor that generates 134 horsepower, up from 115. It’s torque is also up from 199 lb-ft. to 214 lb-ft. The extra power gives the 2017 e-Golf a bit more speed with 0-60 mph only taking 9.6 seconds and its top speed has increased to 85 mph.

On the outside the 2017 e-Golf gets restyled a restyled grille, bumpers, front fenders and headlights.

The e-Golf SE now offers more standard equipment, including an 8-inch glass-
covered touchscreen display, LED taillights, cruise control, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, and the 7.2 kW on-board charger. A DC Fast Charging package is available for $995.

The e-Golf Limited Edition ($34,615) adds DC Fast Charging capability, V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces, and Park Distance Control, with a new feature called Maneuver Braking, which can help driver avoid or mitigate the effects of a collision with stationary objects while parking.

The e-Golf SEL Premium ($37,815) is available with an optional Driver Assistance package ($1,395), including the 12.3-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit instrument cluster, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring, Lane Assist, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Park Assist and Light Assist.
