We kinda figured this was going to happen, but Volkswagen has announced that the Arteon will be discontinued after the 2024 model year, since the automaker wants to focus on higher-volume selling models.

VW’s new Accelerate Forward program will see the company focus on being more profitable and efficient, which means that low-volume selling models are being discontinued from its lineup. The Arteon debuted in 2029, but it arrived at the wrong time, since buyers in the U.S. had pretty much forgotten about big sedans at that point. The Arteon is technically a hatchback, but it’s styling still looks similar to a sedan.
In 2022, VW only managed to sell 1,742 Arteons, which was down from 5,537 in 2021. With the recent departure of the Passat as well, the only big sedan in the brand’s lineup will be the electric ID.7.
