Toyota is hard at work to make its vehicles stronger in front crash tests after newer models like the new RAV4 received low ratings. Toyota is planning midcycle changes to make its vehicles perform better in the small overlap frontal crash test, which tests what happens when a driver crashes the left front quarter of their vehicle into an object, like a tree.
According to Osamu Nagata, CEO of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America Inc., Toyota’s engineers have been reworking designs since last year. In addition to the RAV4’s low scores, the Toyota Camry and Prius V also performed near the bottom of their segments.

Nagata says that the fixes will arrive as soon as possible.
