The 2027 Genesis GV90 has been officially unveiled. As its inaugural full-size flagship SUV, it is also the most technologically sophisticated vehicle Genesis has ever put to the road. The production model takes its cues from the Neolun Concept we saw in 2024 and in doing so brings a bold new design sensibility, an all-new EV platform for a flagship and an interior meant to stand up to any luxury SUV on the market.

Genesis is not content to just put another electric SUV in its stable with the GV90. It has set out to build a proper flagship that can hold its own against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, the Range Rover Electric or a Cadillac Escalade IQ.
At its core is the Electric Mobility Prime (eMP) platform, something developed for Genesis flagships alone. This gives the GV90 a 127.8-inch wheelbase and a length of 208.1 inches, making it the biggest Genesis yet.

Visually, the car is very close to the Neolun Concept, with smooth, uncluttered surfaces that one could say are inspired by the moon jar pottery of Korea. You will find the signature Two-Line lighting up front in the form of new Micro Lens Array LED headlamps, while the rear has been stripped of superfluous styling for a cleaner look. All of this is underpinned by 24-inch forged wheels that give the GV90 a commanding presence.
There are two ways to have a GV90. The standard version comes with regular doors. But the more opulent GV90 Neolun makes a statement with what Genesis calls the world’s first hidden B-pillar coach doors that open and close on their own, allowing for a far more dramatic entry into the cabin.
Under the skin, the GV90 is fitted with the largest battery in a Hyundai Motor Group EV to date. The 123.5-kWh pack feeds dual motors for a total of 657 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, the most powerful output from the group’s electric vehicles. That translates to an estimated 310 miles of range in the seven-seater; a 350-kW DC fast charger will see the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 22 minutes.
Chassis work is equally impressive. In addition to multi-chamber air suspension and active rear-wheel steering – which can turn the back end up to five degrees for better stability at speed or a tighter turning circle – the GV90 has the group’s first Dual Electronic Limited Slip Differential.

Step inside and Genesis has done away with the usual luxury SUV formula in favor of what it terms a bespoke living space. The dashboard is ruled by a pop-up OLED. For day-to-day driving there is a 23.6-inch panoramic display for the infotainment and instrument cluster, but when you park it becomes a 24.6-inch screen for some cinema. Driving data is handled by a 25-inch head-up display instead of a conventional cluster.

Controls have been largely removed in favor of a furniture-like aesthetic, motorized vents and a rotating Crystal Sphere. Natural materials are in evidence too, with options for wool cashmere, real wood and stone. And in a first for Hyundai Motor Group, the front seats are motorized to swivel 180 degrees when the car is stationary, putting you face to face for a meeting or conversation.
You won’t find a start button on the GV90. The new Power Control System sees the SUV come to life as you get in; the column shifter and Crystal Sphere rotate into place once the door is shut and all you need do is put your foot on the brake.

Then there is Pleos Connect, the next-gen Android Automotive based system from Hyundai Motor Group. It has downloadable apps and a generative AI assistant, Gleo AI, for natural voice interaction. The list of tech is long: a Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D system with 25 speakers and Dolby Atmos, 15-cell massage seats, a heated windshield and Remote Smart Parking Assist 3.
To keep weight down without sacrificing rigidity, the body structure is heavy on aluminum. Genesis has also introduced the world’s first roof airbag to help in the event of a rollover. With 12 airbags in all and an occupant monitoring system to fine-tune restraints, safety is paramount. Even the GV90 Neolun with its coach doors is no less robust, thanks to an integrated roll cage and reinforced steel beams that offer the same crash performance as a traditional B-pillar.
For those wanting something more exclusive, there is a limited-run First Edition of the GV90 Neolun. It comes with a four-seat Executive Suite, two-tone paint, body-colored 24-inch wheels and First Edition touches throughout. VIPs will appreciate the rear fridge, tables and a panoramic Smart Vision Roof with variable transparency.
In the end, the 2027 Genesis GV90 is the most ambitious thing the brand has made. It is a true flagship for the industry’s top tier and one that will likely set the tone for what is to come from Genesis.
