Honda Performance Development (HPD) and JAS Motorsports have announced the introduction of the new a TCR version of the Civic Type R, which will debut in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge in 2023.
Honda hasn’t announced all the details yet, but the Civic Type R FL5 TCR features unique bodywork to improve downforce, a new chassis for enhanced cornering stability and greater driver safety, upgraded braking and transmission systems plus a race-prepared version of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder from the Civic Type R. We can see that the fenders have been widened and there’s a large splitter at the front.
The interior has also been redesigned to meet the latest FIA global safety standards and it also gets a multi-channel driver display.
The new Civic Type R TCR will make debut on track this coming April with teams HART, LA Honda World and VGRT in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. Honda will start taking orders for the new Civic Type R TCR on February 1, 2023.
